Abstract

The pomegranate (Punica granatum L.) has a long history of use in holistic medicine due to its wide range of therapeutic properties. The fruit is not only nutritionally significant but also valued for its medicinal benefits. Pomegranate is a spherical fruit with numerous arils (seeds), which are encased in a shiny, resilient pericarp (peel). The arils are filled with juicy, deep-red pulp. At the top, the fruit has a lasting calyx. Punica granatum L. offers a wide array of medicinal benefits. From its ability to combat infections, reduce inflammation, and provide cancer protection, to its support for heart health and digestive issues, pomegranate has earned its place as a powerful remedy in traditional medicine. Modern research continues to validate these uses, confirming pomegranate's potential in enhancing health and well-being. In conclusion, pomegranate is a valuable natural resource with significant therapeutic potential. Its numerous health benefits, plays a huge part in a country economy especially due to its rich phytochemical content, underscore the need for continued research and application in both traditional and modern medicine.
