Abstract

Early stages of medical device development present unique challenges in ensuring ergonomic
design. This critical inquiry delves into the complexities of navigating ergonomic considerations
during these pivotal phases. Drawing from interdisciplinary insights in ergonomics, engineering,
and healthcare, this study identifies key hurdles and proposes strategies to address them. By
examining user needs, human factors, and design constraints, this inquiry aims to enhance the
integration of ergonomic principles into the early development process. Through a synthesis of
literature review and case studies, the paper elucidates the significance of proactive ergonomic
design in mitigating usability issues and improving overall device performance. Ultimately, this
research contributes to a deeper understanding of the role of ergonomics in early medical device
development and offers actionable recommendations for stakeholders in the field.
