Waiver-Eligibility
The Cosmic Journal of Social Sciences (CJSS) offers waivers to authors who cannot afford the journal's publication fees. Waivers are granted on a case-by-case basis, and applicants must demonstrate financial need.
To be eligible for a waiver, authors must meet the following criteria:
- They must be submitting a research article that is original, high-quality, and meets the CJSS's publication criteria.
- They must be unable to afford the journal's publication fees due to financial hardship.
- They must provide documentation of their financial need, such as a letter from a financial aid advisor or a copy of their tax return.
To apply for a waiver, authors should submit a waiver request form and supporting documentation to the CJSS editorial office. The editorial office will review the application and notify the author of their decision within two weeks.
If an author's waiver request is approved, the journal will waive the publication fee for their article. However, the author will still be responsible for paying any other applicable fees, such as copyediting and typesetting fees.
The CJSS is committed to making its publications accessible to all scholars, regardless of their financial situation. By offering waivers to authors who cannot afford the publication fee, the CJSS helps to ensure that the best research in the social sciences is published and disseminated to the wider scholarly community.
Here are some examples of situations where an author might be eligible for a waiver from the CJSS:
- The author is a graduate student who does not have access to funding for publication fees.
- The author is a faculty member at a small, underfunded institution.
- The author is a self-funded researcher who does not have a large budget for publication fees.
- The author is experiencing financial hardship due to illness, disability, or other circumstances.
